The Pantheon is said to be the best-preserved antique monument in Rome. The special architecture has often been a source of inspiration. The opening, nine meters in diameter at the top of the dome, gives a very special light. The interior is at least as special as the outside suggests. The famous Renaissance painter Raphael and his fiancé, King Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I are buried in the Pantheon.

Castel Sant’ Angelo

Castel Sant 'Angelo is a mausoleum built for and by emperor Hadrian. Engelenburcht is connected to the Vatican through an underground tunnel. The purpose of this secret corridor was that the pope in need could still find a safe place to live.

Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is the largest fountain in Rome. The fountain, designed by architect Nicola Salvi in late Baroque style, is 26 meters high and 22 meters wide. In the center of the sculpture, Neptune is depicted on a shell pulled by two sea horses and young sea gods. The water has the color of an emerald, which is an effect of the white limestone, and is therefore considered the most beautiful fountain in the world.
